lifted this from the japan exposure website...

Note about usage of converted lenses on Epson RD-1: due to properties of the Epson RD-1 camera body/mount, converted lenses need to be adjusted individually with the camera present. Unless you wish to send your RD-1 to us we recommend against using converted lenses on the RD-1 as it may cause focussing errors. This issue does not affect other cameras, including the Leica M8, which operates flawlessly with the converted G lenses.

any idea what those rd1 'properties' are?

thanks...

I used a converted G45 for about a year on my RD1. No focus issues in any way. I never saw this warning before. The converted lens is a bit fiddly and not very robust IMO. Beautiful performance of course IQ wise.

Joe- It's always best to have the camera present when adjusting any lens like this. The M8, M9, and RD-1 allow instant feedback. There is nothing about the RD-1 that makes it any more finicky than the M8. My M8 and M9 are "ever-so-slightly" different. It works out for me- some lenses optimized for F2.8 on the M9 work wide-open on the M8. So I leave it. The Summarit 5cm F1.5 is an example- optimized for F2.8 means front-focus on most cameras, but perfect on My M8.
