help! I am attempting my first Contax ii (1936) repair and am probably over my head. In disassembly, I ended up with a loose part that I can not identify and figure out where it goes???( Image attached) I have looked in the repair manual and at the innumerable images on the web with no luck.
The project is currently on hold until shutter cords come from Japan.
Thanks for any help ...lew

Hi, that part forms part of the light baffling to stop light leaks in the camera. It falls out when you the shutter out of the camera. It sits above the film advance sprockets. In the Kiev survival site http://www3.telus.net/public/rpnchbck/fixing light leaks.html on light leaks, you can see it in fifth photo from the bottom of the web page.

I've attached a picture showing the baffle in position. It normally fits below the big D-washer (ie. towards the sprockets). You have to fit it into position as you put the shutter assembly into the body casting. Note how the rectangular section fits between the shutter casting and the body.
