Hello all,

I have a quick question. Is this Contax worth anything?

http://aukro.cz/fotoaparat-contax-zeiss-ikon-i3423366795.html

The camera is not working and it looks like this. I searched all over the web and I found out that it might be a quite rare lens on that Contax - a pre-war Biogon 3.5cm f2.8.

The interesting thing is that it has a serial number on the hot shoe, but no logo. I didn't found a similar Contax anywhere else, so it could be a fake? I really don't know much about those cameras, so any kind of help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Doesn't appear to be a fake Contax to me. The serial number says 1938/1939.
The lack of a logo on the top doesn't mean anything.

As to the price....it's a broken camera body in well-worn condition; I'd say the price is about $40 tops. A repair will probably cost over a $100 extra
I don't know about the lens though.

I bought an old beat-up Conax II like this one a couple of years ago for $60, without a lens of course. I sent it to Oleg, and he overhauled it for $120 or so. I ended up with a very smooth camera which was a pleasure to shoot. The Biogon lens has some value, so long as it isn't too buggered up or full of fungus.
