I have a Contax T3 for many years now. Lately it seems to have lost the half-press prefocus function. The camera works fine in every other respect. I am aware of the custom function presets so the first thing I did was to check whether I'd cancelled inadvertently the half-press prefocus. (I haven't.) While I can still work around this problem via scale focusing or autofocus lock, I seem to have lost the easiest way to focus-and-recompose.
So, I thought to check with the collective here. Is this a familiar problem with T3s? Any inklings to what might be causing it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Bump. (For the shift on the other side of the Atlantic.)

In any case, Tritec in Germany should be able to repair it.
Thanks, I appreciate the tip. I was only aware of Nippon Photo Clinic in NY for Contax servicing. A return trip to Germany for a small repair is probably easier to swallow. Though I wonder if it's something like dust or grime under the shutter button, the sort of thing I can't fix but my local repair guy probably can.

Better hope that repair service is not allied with Kyocera which manufactured and supported the Contax cameras.
Not too long ago Kyocera removed their downloads for firmware updates for Contax digital cameras like the TVS Digital, U4R, I4R and probably the dslr Contax N Digital as well I would suppose.
I still have the latest firmware updates for the three first of these cameras in case I would buy another one.

But don't take anything for granted. It sure is worth to contact the repair service to get to know if they can still do something or not.
