Please see title. My lovely TVS II. Is now not working properly. LCD screens OK, but on presing the shutter, is sounds like the autofocus has a fit (even on manual focus setting), then it locks up. Removing and replacing the battery and switching on again makes the film advance, and that is it. Any repair people in the UK, Europe or even Japan? Help. It in great condition otherwise and my only compact zoom. Love the lens and viewfinder.

I was told by the former director of contax repairs in the UK that Sendean in Clearkenwell bought the remaining parts when Contax ended the repairs.
Expect to pay around £600 for your repairs...

It started working again, then started playing up again. Dirty contact somewhere probably. A £600 tepair bill is a bit steep. I paid less than £150 for the camera in mint condition anf boxed, sigh.

It's the lens ribbon, similar to the Minilux's E02 problem. I broke mine the very happy night I received my TVS II...
Easy fix if you're in East Asia (around $40 in China). If not, there're several technicians on ebay providing services for the Minilux - inquire to see if they could help.

Is it the same lens ribbon as the Minilux. I have contacted the Ukraine repair place which repairs Minilux and they have not tried the repair on the TVS from what I understand. Can anyone pin piont a repair place.

Don't send to Sendean - they have a horrible reputation with repairs and as pointed out, charge through the nose.
Instead, check out this guy: http://www.pppphotography.co.uk/sets/camera-repairs/
I can personally vouch as he repaired my old T2, which had an issue with the battery compartment circuit board. If he has the parts, he can fix. And sometimes even if he doesn't have parts, he can fix. The lad is a genius!
He's in the UK and doesn't charge stupid prices. I paid less than £100 for my repair.

No response at present. Just managed to buy a TVS for a song (£35 more than I paid for one, which my stbx wife has, ~6 years agi). But I prefer the II for better handling and viewfinder

You can try Pierro Pozella who's UK based, he seems have worked on a lot of Contax point and shoots.

I know its overseas but Nippon Photo Clinic in NYC is the official repair center for Contax cameras in North America, they've worked on my T2, and T3 with great results, but are on the pricey side (over $250 USD)

To kram.
I do not remember what I answered on ebay
But actually, we repair Contax TVs. It`s just more complicated than fixed focus lens point and shoot like Minilux or T2 and sometimes needs additional work except for the cable replacement. If you still need repair, you can find me.

What exactly are the differences, asking as I own the first version TVS.

Bigger viewfinder on v1 & 2 is a big plus and you can veiw the scene at 28mm without switching camera on. On v3 aperature change is via buttons not aperature ring. Nicer to hold, can set zoom at any setting manually
. With v3 uses battery power with set focal length positions.
