I was watching that. Final price stunned me. I meant to look at the bidding pattern to see how it happened. If two people happen to snipe a very high end price to guarantee the win, an outlandish outcome can follow a bit by "accident".

I know I've heard talk of someone who makes them to order...not sure if he does an LTM one though

You've heard talk of Amedeo Muscelli and yes he does an LTM one.
And given the quality of his CNC machined adapters you won't regret having missed that old C&P one.

Those C & P adapters are quite rare, so collector prices apply. If you want one for regular use, the Amedeo adapters are well-made, and work great. He has recently started to sell a Contax to LTM adapter in addition to his Contax to M mount adapter.

That price is high, but the condition appears to be good.
I have 2 beat-up C&P adapters, 1 that works better w/Nikon RF lenses & I that works better w/Contax lenses (not sure if the difference was due to sample/quality control variation or if 1 was modified by a previous owner). In addition to only working w/50mm lenses, another drawback to the C&P adapters is that they don't focus as close as the Orion (& later copies) & Amedeo adapters which are based on the Contax helical. I'm guessing that it has something to do w/compensating for the difference in focal length between the Contax & Leica "50mm" standards. The C&P's little focus tab is nice, though, if you like that sort of thing.

He had Contax & Nikon to LTM adapters as part of his original product line back when he used old Kiev helicals, but has now reintroduced them w/his own helicals.

This is very tempting, I'd love to see my black Sonnars and Tessars on a black Leica but fear this might just be a bad attack of GAS.
I guess the Tessars would produce very similar results to an equivalent Elmar. The f2 Sonnar should knock the spots of a Summar and I guess the 1.5 Sonnar will probably be equivalent to a later Summarit (haven't got an Xenon).
...but is it worth it?

Amedeo's adapters are "only" $249 US, so I think it would depend on how much Contax glass you have. Since I have a fairly big collection of Contax & Nikon RF lenses, it's certainly worth it for me to have the option of using almost all of them on my LTM & M Leicas. If I only had a couple? Probably not, unless 1 of them was a "killer" lens that was hard or impossible to find in LTM.
Also, I think the lens nerd consensus is that the f/1.5 Sonnar, maybe even uncoated, is still better than the Summarit (Leitz didn't catch up until the 2nd Summilux).
