I don't have any MF negs to try the FH-869GR holder with. I tried with a short (2 negs) strip of 35mm but Vuescan reports "Scanner not ready".
Do I need to create a mask or is this a setting somewhere?
Cheers and TIA

I'll answer my own question. Inserting one of the masks will make Vuescan recognise that film has been inserted. One of them actually fits the image area of 35mm film so it is possible to use that. Then again, it couldn't be rocket science to make a mask from some suitable material which would allow scanning of a few 35mm negs on a strip.

There could be two possible issues causing the not ready message.. Of the two below, the first one maybe the most probable..
- u did not wait long enough before starting vuescan... The 9000 takes a pretty long time to power up and get to its ready state. It looks like it maybe doing a lot of self calibration and dials before being ready to accept input from external source such as vuescan.
- need a direct connection to your computer, no hub in between.
Can't think of anything else.
Good luck
