I recently bought a canon P and a VI-T. I compared them to my MP just the other day. Well, the result is "shocking".
The VI-T has brighter finder than my MP, especially at night;
The canon P has quitter shutter sound than MP;
The VI-T feels as solid as the MP, if not better;
I really like the magnifying function in the VI-T, especially with the nikon 50/1.4 sc. They work perfect together.

I can go on. Here is just a short list.
I spent 250$ for both the P and VI-P. You guys know how much MP costs.

Could I be wrong here? Am I missing something? :bang:

btw. I did have a canon 7 in the past. I have to say I like the P and VI-T better.

you got both cameras for 250!!???

the canon rf bodies are as solid as they come and the shutters can be very quiet, depends on the body itself.
i had 3 canon ps's and they each had their subtle differences. my favourite was not the nicest of the group. it lives at rover's house now.

Yeah, both are in beater condition. Well used.
I can't have nice things because I will never use them....

I had a Canon 7 and wondered the same thing. The build quality was great, easily as good as an M camera. The viewfinder was bright, and I liked focusing it more than an M. Where I think you'll see a difference is w/ the shutters. I haven't found a Canon 7 that would give me exposures that were as accurate or as consistent as an M, even after a CLA.

I only have a P and no MP but a M4-P but, yes I agree that Canons are remarkably well built and solid cameras. So much so that I find very little use for my M4-P these days.

In the parallel but seldom accessible universe they have M to LTM adapters ... or so I've heard!

We wish! 😀

It looks like you got a great deal! FWIW, the shutter on my beater Canon P (after a CLA) is just as quiet as the shutter on my M2 (after a CLA). And the vf is quite bright. The advantage of Leica Ms is the contrastier and better defined rf patch. But in terms of overall quality of construction, the Canon P is second to none.
