Hi folks! The "search" option isn't available right now and I'm sure this is covered somewhere, but seems to me urgent enough to ask again.
I sent a new (to me) III off for a CLA as soon as I purchased it. Sure does sound sweet, but, it seems to have a hole in the curtain. The most obvious cause I see is the seam holding the curtain to the bar which sits at frame edge (when cocked) on the left (looking through the lens mount). The oblong pinhead size burned area appears in the same place on every frame. There is no streaking across the neg. It's gotta happen as I do fine focussing/framing as I'm about to shoot.
The curtains look very nice, so a patch/paint repair is preferred. Can I do it myself without disassembly, and your suggestions for a suitable product, please.
One more question please....the extra curtain material adjacent to the same seam on my II is partially folded back toward the shutter opening. Was that edge originally glued down, should it be?
Thanks, Jo
