Arrgghhh!!!:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: I just called up Leo's in Vancouver (great store, always been very good to me). They carry the lens but sell it for $519 Cdn (roughly $467 US). And they won't match Stephen Gandy's price. The problem is that I am leaving for my trip two weeks from Friday. So I don't think that Cameraquest can get me the lens in time (unless I pay $75 for shipping). Any suggestions? Any idea why the lens is so much more expensive in Canada? :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

Do you think he could get it to me in time? I have never ordered from him before. But the website seems to suggest 2 weeks to Vancouver and I'm in Ottawa.

Couldn't get the phone number to work (something about my calling card not working for certain numbers) so I emailed instead. Now we'll wait and see...

Hmmm,
I talked to Leo's recently with the same query. They said that although they can't price match Gandy, they can sell the lens for $465 CDN. Add shipping but subtract PST then compare that to B&H or Gandy, after exchange etc. It may be worth it to have Canadian warranty service as well.
That's my plan anyway...

I would second the advice to contact Stephen & ask... I'm not in Canada, but I ordered a VC Meter II from him on saturday & it arrived tuesday afternoon!!! I was ecstatic as I'm leaving for Australia on friday...

Good luck!

Peter

Canadian sellrs can't match US prices since they buy these lenses from Cosina for much more than those prices (the guy at Downtown camera, T.O. told me so). I bought two items from Stephen, one arrived with in 3 days, another in 7 days (the later was delayed due to Canada day and 4th of July holidays). So give Cameraquest a try.

Well, Stephen thinks that the lens will probably get here in time. So I put my order in with him. My fingers are crossed! 🙂
