Hey all, i thought i'd ask if any of you have recommends for a band/cover of some type for the focus ring? The design makes it difficult for me to focus quickly, plus those edges are kinda painful too :p I really like the images ive seen here from it...but that focus ring is ruining the fun of using the lens sadly. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

The problem with the stick-on lens tabs is the focusing ring might not be wide enough for one. Where the ring is smooth, it's also sloped, which might pose additional problems. At least this is based on looking at my new 35/1.7 which has the same focusing ring style and with which I have the same problem and displeasure.

I'm pretty sure the TAAB tabs won't work (based in part on an unfavorable Amazon review by a 50/1.5 owner. I've been contemplating getting some Sugru and just sticking on a hand-molded tab, but I have never worked with this material and am not sure if it will stick effectively to anodized aluminum.

I wish Cosina would have made the focusing ring more of a modern tabbed RF style than aiming for the 'cool retro' effect...

Hmmm that sucks to hear, TAAB was my planned solution...

Thanks for the info everybody! Fortunately i bought it from a reseller who i've bought LOTS of lenses from so they were nice enough to give me a refund (fortunately for them, someone was looking at the lens when i brought it back and ended up buying it). I got the roll back and have to say i'm pretty happy with the results! I think i may look into getting the ltm version of this lens. Is there any differences optically? Should i start a new thread on that :p Thanks again!

I have both lenses - Nokton-M 50mm f/1.5 and Ultron-M 35mm f/1.7 - in chrome on brass. They focus very smooth, the Ultron even smoother than the Nokton. The focusing rings give a very sure grip. No problems whatsoever.

Erik.
