CV Color Skopar 2.5/35 Pancake on ebay

A Buy it Now price of €199? If he expects to get €150 for the lens that's still a little rich for this side of the Atlantic. Prices are steep in Europe!

Hey Peter and Thomas,

Thanks, it was actually me that was interested in this lens...I wanted to buy one when they were brand new but missed out...

I'll be watching this one but am only really interested if the price stays low like 100Euros....150Euros is out of the question...let alone 199!

I think it would be great on my Bessa T and a great lens if I ever splurge and get a Leica IIIf.

Hey Peter do you have the lens hood on your lens?

AKALAI

I have two hoods for the lens. The regular little circular one made by CV (that you have to pay an extra $29 for) and a bigger Panasonic rectangular hood that's made for video cams - $12 on eBay. ;)

The Panasonic hood obstructs the lower right corner of the finder a bit so I'm going to use a dremel & file to make a neat triangular viewhole in it. Its a really good hood though - pic attached below.

Thanks Peter,

I was about to search back through the Coffee and Camera link to find that pic!

Just out of curiosity, is the circular CV hood for this lens just like the one for the Classic only a larger/smaller diameter? Is there anything special about it???

Cheers!

AKALAI

Nothing special about the hood, Akalai. While its good to use a hood they are less critical for the wides than the teles - there is more inherent flare in a long focus lens.

Nevertheless I generally store my lenses in my bag with filter and hood on and this CV hood has the advantage of holding the lens cap on very tightly. It looks just like the one for the classic as far as I can tell (never handled the classic version of this lens). Took a quick snap of the hood this morning to give you a sense of the size of it (attached below).

I'll be posting in my gallery this afternoon and 2 or 3 of them were taken with this lens. A couple of street shot and a night pic. :)

There's still another option in the shape of the the nice Hoya/Kenko/Walz vented lens hoods in 43mm.

I got one for my pancake and love that combo. Btw I paid €150 for my lens, shipment included and the seller ended being another paw participant, great guy.

Off topic but that's a very pretty outfit you have there Oscar! Where's the espresso by the way? :)

You guys in US are lucky to have bargain prices! We in Europe and Down Under need to pay extra to the Government AND importers!

Kris I know that and I fully appreciate it. As a Brit expat I am constantly amazed at the complaining here about the cost of this, the tax on that. If they only knew...

Kris I think it was a pre-cam&coffee shot, that or I simply forgot it :p

I use to think that dollars there are euros here, and in fact that had some sense when the currency was 1:1. Now, some items are heavily overpriced no matter of the exchange, paying 600 euros for a Bessa-R is just insane.

THANKS PEOPLE!

Hey Peter, thanks for going to the effort to take a pic of that hood, I was just curious to see if it was similar to the regular CV hoods. Well if this auction stays low I might consider buying the lens and having it sent to friends in Germany, see what happens, I am not in a rush for this lens but you dont see too many of them up for auction.

And Taffer, thanks for your post as well. I have a Kenko hood pretty much new in the box, has to be at least from the late 50's, but I am not certain what diameter it is..... however I am also looking for a 40.5mm screw in Walz vented hood for my Contax so let me know if you have a spare! ;)

Hey I don't even consider buying camera gear in Australia, just too expensive. I know there are many here that say support your local camera store, well I don't have one, and one or two shops in Sydney may be quite friendly but it hardly means I am going to give them twice as much money just because they let me look at something. Besides 9 times out of 10 they won't stock what I am interested in anyway. I am lucky enough to have friends scattered pretty evenly over the planet and still find that its easiest to just order through places like B&H, Cameraquest and Photovillage. Second hand prices in Australia are completely insane! People expect sums that would often get you the same item brand new so again I don't bother, best to look to the internet and great gatherings of like minded people as on this forum! :D

Yep, same here - on German Ebay, used Bessa-Rs usually end at around 250 to 300 Euros, even Bessa-Ls go for more than 100 Euros, and most slower VC lenses (like the 35mm or 50mm CS, or the 25mm) finish at around 250 to 300 Euro; the same stuff is usually almost cheaper new from CameraQuest, even with postage (about the same - 20 USD from the US vs. 18 Euros from Germany) and taxes figured in...

Akalai, in fact I ended getting a 40.5-43mm adapter ring and use the same hood on my FSU lenses as well :)

In fact I think it's going to be its home now that I finally received Gene's 40mm Summicron for the CL :D

Btw Joe, do you store your Ps and 7 in the same place ? If I were you I wouldn't do that, who knows what a 7 with a jelously attack may do to the poor P's !

The more people say the 7 is ugly the more cheap it can be found, so that's not too bad :)

oscar, usually one p and the 7 stay in the domke bag.
the other p lives alone in the billingham bag.
lenses move a bit more.
