I sent the following to the CZ forum over a week ago, with no response. Anyone here have any experience with these?

I am a relatively new member, so apologies if this has been covered.
I have a post-war Carl Zeiss 50/1.5 that I received on a Contax IIIa.
Serial number of this black rim lens is 821731. Thiele shows this as a gap, with a run of 2K lenses ending at 821260.
This was the extent of my knowledge on the lens until I recently obtained John Keesing's little book on the lenses. He doesn't mention anything about the 1.5, but does have a note about a 50/2, black ring, with an out of sequence number of 824840. I noted that Thiele lists this as an allocated number, but I assume it should have a Zeiss-Opton ring.
The lens appears to be identical to my other late CZ 50/1.5's, except for the odd serial number.
Anybody help with some additional information? Are there changes/additions to the Keesing book available anywhere?

Bump... and a question. Over 80 views of the message, with no responses, so far. I know the forum is primarily interested in taking pics rather than collecting gear, but I hoped someone would be able to provide some imput. Anyone have any information about the lens, or updates to the book mentioned?

I feel the Zeiss 50/1.5 is one of the best of the 50's, from any maker, and am always interested in learning more about them. Still trying.....

Thanks, Harry

I'm not sure which "CZ forum" you are talking about, but this is your best bet: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ZICG/

That's where I posted the message. I was, frankly, surprised at the complete lack of response in that forum. There are a couple of members, at least, who keep logs of SN's and other data. Must be very seldom encountered items, as the lenses themselves are still Sonnar 50/1.5's (IMO very nice stuff!!)

This area seems to be almost completely devoted to very modern tech, rather than my own choice, the Contax IIa/IIIa or its earlier brother..

Roland, spam-bots will pick up those addresses and flood them with spam. It'd have been better to send them by private message, even better if you delete the above post.
