D.r.p, D.b.p?

Deutsches Reich Patent - or German Kingdom Patent, if my German serves me correctly.
DBP is Deutsches Bundes Patent - or German Federal Patent.

And don't forget GmbH, which is basically 'Company Limited'.

Just to make thing a little more complicated I have a iiia from 1936 which bears the dbp mark. The previous owner bought it from a shop in Germany while on holiday in the 1970's. He noticed that someone had tried to remove the serial no. and not wishing to get caught with stolen goods when leaving he sent it to the Leica factory for an overhaul. The rangefinder cover was replaced but the original serial No.193xxx retained!! I also have a iiif rd which is marked drp. serial No.626xxx (1952/3)

Pre-War and Post-War D.R.P was engraved up until Leica camera Serial No. 615000.
From Serial No. 615001 the engraving was D.B.P.

The only exception to this was that for some unknown reason some, but not all, Leica IIf's and Leica IIIf's made in 1952/53 still had the D.R.P engraving but nobody seems to know why.
thanks, do you know their serial munbers?🙂

my new (to me) IIIf RD ST came in the mail yesterday (thanks RFF classifieds) and I looked up this tread when I noticed the engraving was different than my other IIIf RD. here is the picture of the two cameras. The camera on the left was built in 1952-53. The self timer camera on the right was built in 1955.
