I've recently started using BlackRapid straps. They're great at taking the weight of the camera off your neck and distributing it across your shoulder and body instead. They do however have one problem - they attach to the camera by its tripod screw mount on the base (this is really secure, don't be horrified), causing it to hang more upside-downly than before.
I've seen that the D700 is good in rain and snow from the top, crazy people on the internet put them in their showers and everything 😱 , but should I get caught in the rain with the bottom of the camera pointing up, how would it fare? Also how would the MB-D10 grip do in similar conditions?
I like to look after my gear, that's all. I know the camera is weather-sealed rather than water proof, and in any case, I'd get it out of harm's way as quickly as possible...
