David Allen Harvey rocking the M9 in Rio

Yep, I saw the Leica Dgital. Also saw him using an SLR or DSLR. Might be a good reminder for some of us who may begin to believe that everything has to be shot with a Leica RF.

I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. See if he's still got it. God I hope so.
Anyone know the money behind this assignment? Is this a National Geographic spread or something larger?--a book perhaps?

Whatever it is, I hope there's a decent amount of published work that comes out of it.

I totally agree. Yeah, that DSLR he is using is strange in that he is using the pop up flash.

I also can't wait to see the finished results. :D

Interesting video... thanks!

Wonder if the pictures have already run–looks like it was shot during carnival, which would have been almost a year back.

I don't get National Geographic enough to know if they have already run. Does anyone here know of the last assignment DAH had with NatGeo?

That is a cool video! Do you think this is a shift in how pros feel about Leica? After all the problems with the M8 is the M9 finally accepted as the real deal? I hope so.

We'll see, but I think it's a sign of how they feel about digital M's. I know Meyerowitz shot film until the M9, and there was of course Michael Kamber's M8 review, basically of how bad that went, and now he praises and uses two M9's for work. Personally I had an M8 for a week before dumping that.
I really think the M9 has proven that Leica can make a digital M right, and have it be a viable alternative to a film M in a working environment.
Of course, that's a 7K alternative, so, I say alternative loosely.
For me, I'm still using film M's alongside DSLR for work when needed, until, somehow someway, there is an affordable digital M option. Maybe a digi CL?

Harvey definitely uses a Nikon DSLR from time to time. The times I've seen him it was NOT a D700 but instead something in the D90 class or similar. The way this was shot highlighting the M9 made it look like an advertisement at times.
