I'm coming to the end of about 7 weeks here. My mother in law died about a week into our stay; I've been supporting my wife, dealing with a multitude of account, property, and possesions issues, and helping chart a course for my father in law, alone after 70 years with his wife.
'Helping' may be too strong a word; my Hungarian places me in a functional class somewhere below idiot . . .
Anyway, I'm down to the last couple of days for now. I took a late night walk yesterday; in my mood I was concentrating on windows of closed businesses.
These two captured a couple of my feelings about the process and about why I like Budapest so much: the reflected cross in the first one, the tiny battery stroe in the second one, displaying its entire stock in the window, battery by battery, flahlight by flashlight.

Condolences to you, your wife and her family. You might feel you couldn't give much, but believe me, your wife and her loved ones will appreciate your support more then anything else.
Good to see that photography gives you some comfort!
