Put a roll of Delta 100 through my M3 with the vc 50/1.5 on the weekend. Not expecting much, just a family picnic. It was a bright, clear day. Snapped off the roll, including 5 shots with the lens cap on
Developed the next day in Ilfosol 3 (1+14 7:30min @ 20 deg C). All very standard.
Nothing special about the shots but I'm really floored by dynamic range. I'm used to it with the Mamiya 7's 6x7's but it was nice to see no blown highlights on a bright day with 35mm. I'm not sure too many digitals could have pulled that off.
Any other Delta 100 lovers out there?
Cheers - John

Very nice results there John, and nicely scanned, processed and presented too.
Is the VC 50/1.5 normally regarded as a high-contrast lens? If so you've certainly tamed it.
It's several years since I tried it, and at that time I found it more difficult to expose correctly and process than the HP5 I was otherwise using. I'll have to give it another go soon.

Thanks Chris. Glad you liked them. From the moment they scanned they just seemed to jump out from the screen. Only put a couple of rolls through this combination but I'm very impressed.
My difficultly lately with exposure has been the Leica MR meter on top. Under exposures by 1.5 stops. Now I know, my exposures are spot on.

Haven´t used Delta 100 in 35mm yet, but I love it in 120:

John, I noticed those shots in the Gallery and had similar thoughts about the dynamic range - impressive. Very hard to get that gentle highlight roll-off with digital, although I believe some of the latest generation sensors/firmware such as the MM, OM-D, Fujis and D800 are starting to get closer.

Hi Lynn,
We all know how harsh the Australian sun can be. I do like some contrast and 'pop' though and was happy to see it wasn't at the expense of the highlights.

Always Trying
John, looks like only an hour or so of mid day, very, very good contrast control, will have to try Delta here in the west, i have no hope at about 3 hours before or after mid day. There is just to much range between light and shadow.

Here! I love that stuff.
Ilford's best film.

I shot a lot of Delta 100 when I was in Arizona on a trip and the film was great for controlling the bright skies.
This being said, I find that I much prefer FP4+ for all-around shooting.

I will have to try Delta 100. The 400 is a favorite of mine for the same reason. Gorgeous highlights.

This is an interesting thread. One thing I'd like to know: what is the difference between Delta 100 and Acros 100? How would you describe their characteristics compared to each other? I've been playing with Acros but haven't yet tried Delta.

I've have only used Acros in 120. I find it really contrasty but I do like it, a lot. My last roll was Acros 100 and this is what I got with Rodinal 1+50.

An one from a few months ago in Belgium.
