Why is is depressing? Isn't it supposed to be a comedy? I guess it's not funny LOL!!

The characters are tragic.
There is a funny scene though where the paparazzi character rediscovers the camera his dad gave him that sparked his interest, and he repairs it. On the table beside this camera that he's fixing are parts of the camera, including a very inappropriately sized wood screw.
