WOW. 450 prints.

Now that $25.00 ticket does not seem so steep.

BTW this kinda was Snarky Joe’s idea. Know it was great catching up with him in Yonkers.

I learned a lot from Diane Arbus. There was this gallery show that was called “Contact Sheets.” Pretty much I saw the wisdom of blowing threw 12 shots or an entire roll of 120 in a Rollieflex and dancing or interacting with a subject to gain an iconic shot.

I kinda did my shooting in 3 round bursts as a tool and aid to editing. Out of three shots one is going to be better than the other two. Also like an assasination a hit man generally takes three shots: Stomach; chest; head.

The iconic shot of the boy in Central Park playing with a toy grenade was one of twelve shots on a roll. All 12 shots were of the boy.

Know that Diane Arbus was known to carry three loaded rollieflexes in a knapsack so she could shoot rapid sequences and not have to reload.

Let’s make a date…

I think Diane Arbus made me shoot lots of film.

If you studied her contact sheets she moved around and recomposed each shot.

I had heard that Richard Avedon would have two assistants just to keep reloading two Rollieflexes, and he would just empty a camera and hand it off.

Generally when shooting film I carried either two or three cameras, so I could just grab another camera.

In my case I generally had a wide and a normal. At one point I carried a Rollie 3.5F Whiteface along with a Tele Rollie flex, and later that evolved into carrying that Rollie 3.5F along with my Plaubel 69W Proshift (only 8 shots per roll of 120).

Still I lost and missed a lot of shots due to reloading.

When shooting 35 mm I often carried three Leicas.

I just wanted to fess up on the style I adopted.

Devil Christian says the way I shoot is like a dance with the subject and somehow it is performative. I’m not really a fly on the wall, necessarily…

I wont be able to do this weekend, but would love to check out the Arbus show if you guys get together at a later time. Its been too long, would be fun to get together for a bit again.

I’ll be at ICP at 1:00 PM.

5’10” Asian with a pony-tail. Pretty much an old hippy.

My intent is to get into Grand Central early and walk downtown to see what I’m missing living in the burbs these past 4 1/2 years.

Hopefully Helen and others will attend.

Fidel,

Set a date for the Diane Arbus exhibit that is good for you.

EZ-PZ.

Joe who suggested this show will likely attend.

So to be clear ICP 1:00 PM this Saturday meet right out front.

Diane Arbus still is open. Hopefully Fidel sets a date.

These are like the old days when I lived in Madhattan. Last Meet-Up was post lock down in Astoria.

Know that “Maggie” does not want me to drive into the city. To make it easy Meet-Ups for me need to be within walking distance from Grand Central. For me that kinda is south of 110th Street in Madhattan. Our Audi is our baby at this point…
