Hi All,

Allegedly Jennifer Anistion is producing a film about photojournalist Dickey Chappelle, who stormed Iwo Jima with the Marines in WWII, and whose life ended in Vietnam. I'm trying to get a confirmation from the author of her biography (called "Fire in the Wind"; a good and informative read). Like in the case of Arbus, who knows what Hollywood will do with it....

Dickey shot on Leica III's and M3's by the way...

Also, Adrien Brody is cast as Robert Capa in a film in or soon to be in production. It follows (of course thanks to Hollywood) the love affair between him and Gerda Taro. Don't know if I would have picked him as the lead though.....

I had heard about the Chappelle movie and hope the project will go forward. She was a fascinating person and deserves to be better remembered. Do you know if Aniston will play Chappelle?

Aniston as Chappelle

Aniston as Chappelle

Hi Jyl,

That's the story, Aniston as Chappelle. But with the Big Breakup (w/Pitt) the project seems to be on hold. I spoke with the agent for Roberta Ostroff, who wrote the bio on Dickey Chappelle, and he wasn't sure either if the film would continue. I just hope it does. Book is awesome by the way. More in depth than I'd anticipated.

Cheers,

Chris

Whatever happened to the Capa film? Is it still in production?

I called Brody's publicist's office, who couldn't give me an answer cause the publicist was out of the office. They told me to call his agent at CAA. I called CAA, who said, "we're not authorized to release that information." Hollywood! Arg!

So, I'll try the publicist later on....

I do hope NO ! Capa would rotate in his grave with 19000 rpm, after he had worked there as a set photog for a while he later stated that Hollywood was the biggest shit he ever stepped in 😀

i would not have picked Brody to play this..

I agree. Plus, I think Brody's eyes are green, which would mean brown contact lenses.

Actually, a better actor (no longer A-list but perhaps with more charachter; Revenge of the Nerds for example) would be Robert Carradine, who did co-star in "The Big Red One." He'd be good. Check out this link. Maybe it's time for a poll... ")
