Have a Pany LX100 digital camera. A real nice camera but I do not use it much. If it is going to sit on the shelf for a month or two, am I better leaving the battery in or should I take it out? I would think I should leave it in to keep the clock, etc up to date. Any suggestions?

Best to leave it in. Most digital cameras have a small internal battery that is kept charged by the main one.

I would say the same. Another matter if we were talking years and not months though.

Don't forget to charge it from time to time...I'd say, once per 6-12 weeks of idling. Batteries aren't milk, they will not die charge them day before or two later, but sitting on shelf camera can sip small amounts (or larger, if it's not OK) of electricity leading to exhausted battery. Lithium cells have switch which will not allow to charge battery when charge falls below critical level. Once I bought not very common battery in new condition (sealed) but it failed to charge because of not being used for too long.

I charge and rotate the spare batteries once a month on the first.
