Dear RFFers

Over the last few years we have run a digital print exchange. It is primarily UK based, but we have had participants from all over the world including the USA and India. I founded the group and am in the process of reviving it and seeking new members. Over the years we have had several published photographers in the exchange, but everyone is welcome.

Basically the way it works is that everyone prints a black and white photo (there is no particular theme) and sends enough copies (A4 or US letter size) for everyone participating in that particular round to a central person (i.e. me). So if, say, there are 7 participants you must print 6 copies for the others and keep one for yourself. The photo must be printed digitally, but can be captured using analogue methods.

You also have to provide technical information (capture methods, printing processes, papers etc.). I then send packs of the prints and the printing information to all participants. A deadline is imposed to send the prints by. People pay me the (usually small) costs of the postage and so on via paypal or in cash with the prints.

Once print packs are received by the participants comments are made via a yahoo web group. Comments are mandatory and discussion about the prints and techniques used is encouraged.

At present we have four definite participants and one maybe for the next round. We would like to include a few more, but it is never more than 10. Exchanges typically take place every 3 or 4 months but there is no requirement to participate in all of them.

PM me if you are interested. If you agree to participate you will be invited to join the yahoo group in order to receive information and post your comments and ideas.

If you have any questions reply to the thread or PM me.
