I just got my first FSU camera, a Zorki 6. I really like it so far, except for one itty-bitty problem... the diopter adjustment is frozen in place and won't move. The lever is forward all the way, and the image in the viewfinder is definitely smaller than 1:1. I'm lucky enough to not need glasses, so I don't need the diopter adjustment either!

So, is there some sort of trick to moving the lever? Pulling in or out? Or is it just rusty? (the camera is a definite user, with a fair bit of rust on the top cap) What can I do about it? All the other mechanicals run from merely okay (aperture) to smooth as butter (wind lever).

I can still use it like this, but I was really hoping to be able to use it with both eyes open - that's for the benefit of my daughter, who has a hard time squinting just one eye to use a viewfinder, and she's a lefty to boot.

I hate to be the one to tell you this :-( , but if you move diopter lever and nothing happens, the top usually has to come off. Not an uncommon problem on FSU cameras and some are worse than others... Welcome to the world of FSU cameras and Welcome to RFF. Dave

I didn't read your whole statement.. You won't have 1:1 on any FSu Leica copy all the diopter adjust does is bring the view through the view into focus, corrects your vision..Dave

The dioptre adjustment lever is probably easily fixed if you take the top deck off but I don't think it will solve your problem. You may better off getting a Voigtlander Contur viewfinder. These turn up on eBay from time to time.
