i've noticed this paper about radioacitve lenses. The 38mm 1:1.8 Pen Zuiko is mentioned there (2,7 µSv h-1 😕). Does anybody know if Pen lenses contain radioactive material like thorium?
I think it would safe to say, that most of these old lenses contain radioactive rare earth elements. Don't put them under the pillow or the tooth fairy will give you cancer.
i've checked my pen lenses and the 42mm has slight yellowing. the 60mm lens is clean. i suppose the 38mm, the 42mm and maybe the 40mm are the only lenses containing thorium (mostly fast lenses are affected).
