You die and your $100,00 in photo equipment, known as 'junk', is left sitting like a weight on a drowning swimmer. How have you directed your family to sell off/give away your photo equipment when you join Ansel Adams and Eugene Smith?

I am laughing because I can here my son calling all this stuff junk.

He is 11 though and I have (I hope) enough time to train him.

I'm thinking of creating a digital catalog, with photos, descriptions, 2011 prices etc. I will also keep al the stuff together, kind of. After my going, my son might discover it to be convenient and profitable for him to sell it carefully. Otherwise, I doubt he will pay much attention to it

That undiscovered country, from whose borders no traveler returns, puzzles the mind ...

I just rest in the knowledge it will take more than one trip to the dump ...

Which dump Stewart?
Just so I know where to go. 😉

But seriously, I have been meaning to do something about this. If my other half needs the cash then I'd like her to take it to a trusted dealer. However I'm think I'm worth far more dead than alive, so if the cash isn't needed I'd ask for it to be passed to one of you guys to distibute among our group.

Either that or be buried with them as grave-goods in case there's some good shots to be had in the afterlife. 🙂

That's one of the positives of death. I will no longer be worried about what happens to my gear, or anything else.

That is my attitude too towards my photographic gear. My wife is not stupid and can do what she wants with it.
