Do You Shoot Plus-X 120 & Long Rolls?

APUG's knee jerks awfully hard at the slightest rumor. Is there any real confirmation? Like, say, from Eastman Kodak itself???

i just got off the phone with kodak ..
the person ( who i have spoken with on many occasion )
put me on hold and asked someone in another department what was going on ..
plus x is not discontinued across the board ... 35mm 36exposure rolls are still available ..
but 120 and " the long roll " have now now been discontinued ..

Right. A friend of a friend (who works there!) 🙄

I'll wait for it to be documented somewhere other than APUG. It may well even be true, but that's no confirmation, just more rumor.

Plus-X in 120 showed up in Freestyle's "Hot Deals" list some time ago. About the same time Arista Premium 100 wound up there.

I think Freestyle gets wind of this kind of news early. When I called them to ask they would only tell me the 120 Plus-X was discontinued on their end and unavailable for reorder.

Kodak has a phone number to reach them in the PDF files for Film and Developers. I need to give them a call one of these days. The sad part is the only spare time I have at work is late afternoon, far past closing time in Rochester.

Kodak dropped their Tri X 120 in 24 exposure rolls. It makes some sense that it would follow with the Plus X. You can get the 120 Tri X in 12 exposure rolls and I'm assuming it will follow with Plus X. Time will tell I guess.

I think the conversation referenced was one with Peter. Not a friend of a friend. He's the guy whom you get when you call the number for Kodak support.

I've called him in the past and he was pretty upfront with me. This was when everyone was going around saying TMZ was being discontinued since it was out of stock everywhere. He told me it was out of stock, but they were coating it again in a month so I should see it on the shelves in about two. He was right on the money.

Oh and the Tri-X dropped in 220 was TXP/Tri-X 320, not 400TX/Tri-X 400, which wasn't available in 220, only 120.

Just giving a heads up to those who can't live without it. I don't use it myself, but was glad to have had enough warning to stock up when Neopan 1600 went away. Kodak does appear to have confirmed this to those who have called- I didn't call as it is Saturday and, I don't want to stock up. And you'll note I said "seems to be done". Rumor perhaps, but one that appears true, and one that likely makes a big difference to many folks.

Damn!
It gets closer and closer every time.
More and more mainstream emulsions or formats...
Who are these guys at Kodak thinking they are, taking our beloved toys from us?😡

I imagine they're trying to rationalize their film offerings. Why offer both Tmax 100 and Plus-X? Yeah, I know they're completely different films but they're also about the same ISO.

I imagine that someday Kodak will offer one ISO 100 speed B&W film and one ISO 400 speed B&W film. All I hope now is that Tri-X is the 400 speed film they keep around.
