Does anyone actually walk around/shoot out of a Domke F-1x?

As opposed to using it for gear storage in the car, then transferring selected items into a smaller bag to walk around with? I ask because whenever I load it up fully, especially with Hasselblad gear, then as I go to lift it, I see that I might as well try to pick up the washing machine (almost). I wind up unloading it again and leaving it behind.

It could be I have the wrong concept. Maybe it's supposed to be more for gear transport. But then, that's what my Lowepro Photo Trekker backpack is for.

It would be lighter if I only used it for 35mm or digital. But then, it only has cells for 4 lenses. I can get 8 lenses and 2 bodies in my Tamrac System 8, which is a smaller bag to walk with (though it, too, would then be too heavy as a practical walkaround bag. I need to rethink this.

What has your experience been with the F-1x? How do you use it? Or do you?

I have one. It is too heavy for a neck and back the age mine are. I use a small knapsack instead. The F1-X is not a bad bag for going from point A to point B and setting up shop. It is not for carrying around all day unless you are stockholder in Advil, know a good chiropractor or are built like an ox (two out of three would do . . ).

I also use it for going A-B and setting up shop, not for walking around.
But since I got a backpack, it has been used as storage for my MF system.

OK, based on the foregoing, and after due consideration, I have repurposed the F-1x as a Nikon Bag. The Hasselblad gear, slightly pared down, went into my smaller, yet roomy, Tenba bag. The F-1x now holds two Nikon bodies with lenses, plus four not overlarge lenses. One of the Nikons will be around my neck, so there won't be all that much in the bag. Then if it rains while I'm shooting, there's room in the bag for both cameras.

At times when I don't care to carry that much, the F-1X can stay in the car, or cabin, and I will take my old and well-used Tamrac 706 Convertible shoulder bag/fanny pack.

So that's the plan for our trip that starts this week! It will be a minimal equipment trip by my standards. I'll bring only a D700, FM3a, FA, and just ten lenses. Hope I don't miss the ones I'll leave behind. If all else fails, I will fill in with an X10 and X100 in my pockets.

Wish me luck.
