Since NE La. has the largest concentration of evacuees things are starting to get worse. Gas and food are in short supply. The pharmacies are having a hard time filling prescriptions. The area is asking for donations. if you would like to help send them to
The American Red Cross
414 Breard St.
Monroe, La. 71201

and there is a difference between the American Red Cross and the International Red Cross.. donate to the American RC

think it would help to donate a RFF hat??

If you or a family member or friend works for a major American corporation you might investigate donating through their charitable program...most of them will do some kind of match if you do, and none will deduct anything for handling...typically they pass the money through to American Red Cross or United Way, both of which are highly efficient.

I mentioned on P.N that Bank of America will match dollar for dollar...if you give $50 they will add 50, for example. I think that's typical of many corporations. Naturally, a nitwit objected to mention of that bank :bang: but this is the real deal, peoples attitudes notwithstanding :bang: ...BofA and other corps do this well, supercharging your donation. Their match is in fact literally a donation at the expense of shareholders.

There'd be no tax deduction for you, but you might consider asking your bank branch manager or some other officer you may know (eg management or lender or stockbroker type) to make the donation for you , to get that donation leveraged. 😉

I just got back from the Astrodome where I was volunteering for the day, I can only say these people need your contributions more than ever.....
Please have a look around your camera gear and see if some dust covered item could be transformed into some relief for these poor people.

Byuphoto is correct! i set up the computer network for the advertising agency that does the American Red Cross' ads and I called MY contact who told me to "donate to the local chapter in Louisiana; the funds will get applied immediately and correctly, as opposed to going into the national/international 'pool' where it could take months to get to them."
