i was thinking i ought to get the bubble level to go with my 15mm, but i'll need the double shoe adapter to use it. CQ appears to still have stock. which type do i need for my R4 and R?

and how come discontinued? what does that imply about where the CV product line is going?

Ask Stephen, he'll know. I got one for my R-D1 as soon as I found out they were discontinued. Mine is type A, so I guess yours will be too. Just drop Stephen a note. (In his FOR SALE page it says type 'A' is for all Bessas.)

On the bubble level subject, I was surprised to find out the CV one is horizontal only. No vertical shots with it...

I keep a list of discontinued Cosina-Voigtlander products here.

I believe Stephen has some A-types left. Email him.

As for the other question, there have been quite a few items discontinued over the past year but in most cases they have been replaced by an "updated" version or there is most likely an updated version in the pipeline. For some, like the SL series, it was most likely a matter of production space. For a few, like the double accesory shoe or the 50/2.5 I think it was a matter of sales.

yes the double shoes are discontinued and sold out at the factory, however I still have all 3 versions in stock.

Discontinued products imply nothing about CV. While Mr. K is willing to take a chance on innovative products that other camera makers would never produce to begin with, he will also discontinue products when they don't sell well enough to keep it in production. Alas, don't look for a replacement double shoe, or the now lamented but then long ignored F-S lens adapter.

Behind the scenes Mr. K is planning lots of new products that will keep the Voigtlander faithful happy. But of course, I can't talk about them until they are officially introduced.
