have you ever had/used a peice of rf gear, that after owning it for a while, you just cannot understand why everyone doesn't have/use it too?

and if someone were to speak against this gear you honestly could not fathom what they were saying?

The whole Leica vs. Voigtlander thing still boggles my mind. After switching from a Bessa to an M3>M2>M6>M7>M8 I could not understand why one wouldn't buy one if they could afford it. The difference is so big I cannot imagine going back.

Honestly, no. I have bought and sold a lot of stuff here, and have a nice kit which I am happy with, but I know that what I like may not be everyone else's cup of tea.

Of course, it is true that all of ya do need an M3.

Other than that there are not set rules, no must haves.

Well, if you are getting an M3 then maybe a 50 Summicron, DR, Collapsible or Rigid, but those are 3 options, so not one is a must have.

See, I am flexible.

Kind of - a group of gear pieces: I honestly don't understand why short teles on RFs are so unpopular.

With the usual argument that they are so much easier to use on SLRs. Which is (1) not true, and (2) really comparing apples to oranges.

🙂

Joe,

Your consistency with the RD-1's has gotten my attention as I know that you are pretty unattached to equipment and only really keep what works for you. I just have trouble getting my head around crop factors, but the look and ergonomics of the RD-1 is very tempting.

i had a hard time with the whole idea of crop factors as well, at the beginning.
but the 24x36 thing was not chosen for any enlightened reason/purpose, it was more like convenience. and 2x3, 4x5, 8x10...all different and acceptable as well.

thinking about what a 35mm lens 'will be' on the rd1 made me a little crazy too, but i have calmed down and realize (see other post) that i still like what i liked before lens wise.

I would have had an Epson ages ago but for that 1.5 crop factor ... the six megapixel output wouldn't bother me at all and the ergonomics look spot on!

No, both are old Joe, but years ago you felt that the Canon P was it.

and the canon p WAS IT for me...then i changed...

i did get it...a replacement for the rd1 like the p has been replaced.

i see someday, that i might have and shoot with, both the rd1 and an m8.

like folks have an m2 and an m3.

after that, when the really good stuff come out, like the m12 or rd4...i will likely be dead, some i'm having my good time now.

The Nokton 35/1.2 must be perfect for the RD-1 as a portrait and general use super-fast lens.

Keep tripping the shutter...
