I just picked up a Drem Leicascop with its original leather case at an estate sale. Have any of you seen/used one? It's an extinction meter which was made in Austria.

On one hand, it seems like it might be a perfect accessory for a pre-war Leica. However, I wonder if the Sunny-16 rule might be more accurate. Any idea when it would have been made? Film speed scale is in Scheiner degrees, range is 17-30 (or about 4-80 ISO). Stops and shutter speeds, are, of course the old progression (1.3, 1.9, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 6.3, etc.).

Given the impracticality of actually using it, this may be a better opportunity to raise funds for useful items (lenses, etc.) Kevin Cameras has this exact model listed for $395 here . That one is in much worse shape than mine. Mine has no rust or corrosion on the exterior -- just a little dirt and the white background on the dials is a bit yellowed. The dials turn fine, optics are clear. As for accuracy, etc. I'm not sure, as I'm not sure exactly what level of brightness to look for. There are two numbers inside which are shown depending on where the dial is turned. I'm not sure if there are supposed to be more than 2 numbers or not, or at which level of illumination inside is considered "correct."

There are two others on Kevin Cameras which are in better condition (but a different model) listed at $650 and $850, so I'm assuming that if Kevin had this particular item it would be listed somewhere around $650. I'm not sure what that translates to in terms of real-world value, though.
