dust in RF patch on my bessa R2

that's driving me crazy. It moves across my RF patch when I focus a lens or move the cam with my finger while the camera is lensless. At infinity I can't see it and then as I focus it appears at the edge of the patch, scoots across as I continue focusing and finally disappears again when it goes over the opposite edge of the patch. Of course it doesn't show up on the film, but it is annoying me.

Where is the dust spec in the camera?! Mirror? RF window? Arg!

I tried just blowing air into the upper cavity hoping to dislodge it to no effect.

Any ideas?

Does anyone have some reference sites for removing the top plate and going in if I decide to explore by myself? I'd rather have some kind of map and gameplan before I perform surgery. 🙂

Try both ways, left and right. And then for good measure forward and back too.

You will not do the camera any harm and it often shifts the speck of dust out of the way.

I have the same problem with my R2. It's annoying but doesn't affect picture quality. There was a website in the UK on which one could see how to remove the top plate and clean up R2 rangefinder innards. Just try googling a bit and you'll find it.

any idea where that website is, I can't seem to find it.

I shook the poo out of that camera, the spec hasn't budged one iota. It's really stuck on there. I wish I could figure out where it was. It disappears if I cover the RF window and moves when I focus. It's only on the RF patch, nowhere else in the viewfinder. Could it be on the mirror?

I had a similar problem, and got rid of it by unscrewing the flash bracket and blowing air into the rf housing. Try it, nothing to lose.

Sorry for thread necromancy, but I have now the same problem with R3M - some dust parcticle(s) in RF patch (though is seems like it doesn't move when focusing, but disappears, when I cover RF window). I would try at least remove the hotshoe and blow in the air - but how do I remove it? I can't find it out.

my r2a has the same problem, I tried a blower in every crack of the camera I could find but it didnt work, doesnt bug me much but its annoying when I see it, I tried shaking it just now and nothing happened, but from time to time the dust in my patch does move around to other areas
