I searched the archives but could not find an answer to this question:

Given that pre ttl M6's generally sell in the $1000-$1200 range regardless of age, should any consideration be given to buying an early version, say mid 80's vs. a later version, mid 90's?

I have one of each . Sherry Krauter says the early ones have metal film counters that are better, but the early meters are beginning to "go". My early one had the meter replaced before I bought it. FWIW I use both interchangeably and notice no difference at all, other than the early one says "Weztlar" on top (and helps me remember what film is in it). Personally I would buy based on condition, and especially if it has been overhauled by DAG for example, I would consider that a plus over a later # that hasn't been.

Thanks for your input. Sherry has one of my lenses right now, maybe I'll try to reach her to get more details about what she means by the meters "going".

Nice shots of New Orleans by the way.

Regards,

Roger
