Hi, i want to tell about a rare episode that happened to me a few days ago on ebay.

I was looking for a particular lens, and found one that was ok, but the pricetag was alittle bit too high.
So i sent a best offer on august 13th...
The seller never rejected the offer and so the ebay system expired it.
And to be sure, the system also sent me an expired offer notification.

For that reason i bought another lens.

To my susprise 48 hours later i found in my summary that i´ve got to pay because i won the best offer:eek:

Dind´t know wahat to do, talked to the seller and he gently answered opening me a case for not paying :eek:

And so i payed for the unwanted, unneeded item!

And so i talked to ebay customer support to know what happened and a gentle lady told me the seller accepted the offer in a fraction of a second in the very same time the system sent me the expired offer...

But i wonder how could this happen if the paying info on the summary just appeared 48 hours after the notification...

Guess ebay has some goblins in it...we´re aproaching the matrix...

Just wanted to know i any of you has experienced something like this...

:)

I would forward the email notification of the expired offer to both ebay and the seller and make it clear that on that official notice I had made an alternate purchase.

No way would I let ebay coerce me into a purchase they already notified me I wouldn't be making due to the expired offer.

+10 to that!!! :D

Is eBay even worth dealing with these days?

I had the same thing happen with a Goodwill online sale a while ago. Evidently the auction winner didn't pay so they sent me the tab. Fortunately I hadn't bought anything afterwards so it worked out in my favor.

Talk about strange goings-on: On the 15th, I went to check my Watch list on Goodwill for an auction that still had some time left on it, and it was marked up as ended. I double checked the time on the listing, and there was still seven minutes left at that point.

So then I figured they called it off for some reason, and went to check my next day's listings (for the 16th). All of them were being shown as ended too. I e-mailed them a couple of times, asking what was going on, and finally last night I got some snooty answer back about there is nothing wrong with their system. They probably never bothered to check.
