Many of you have seen me talk about 9x12 cameras. I like them. They are just neat no matter. They are almost the size of a 4x5 negative, but much smaller and lighter. There are also roll film adapters for 120 film. They usually cost $50 to $80, so I haven't bought one yet. However, I just got one for $75.00.

I was surprised to find a roll of exposed film inside. That will be interesting to develop. I don't know what kind of film it is, so I guess Rodinal stand development unless some one can identify it.

But what I really liked was the accessory that came with it. I had never seen one before.

A Voightlander VAG. But this one has a rangefinder attached. I hadn't seen one before. It wasn't well described, but I decided to jump, figuring it would be a good display piece if nothing else. And getting the 120 insert would be usable on some of my other 9x12.

Imagine my pleasant surprise to find I had a RF VAG with a good bellows, albeit a slow shutter. That should respond to lighter fluid when I can get around to it. The real intrigueing surprise was that the RF is coupled. It has a linkage that is coupled to the slide the lens slides onto for focusing. You can see the simple linkage from the RF down to the slide on the bed.

Who knew? Of course I am sure many here in RFF did know, and maybe even have one. I would love to hear comments and see examples. But it is the first time I have seen one. I think the only other RF 9x12 I have seen on ebay is a Kodak, which usually lists for over $200.00.

The RF is accurate. It checks closely distance wise, and more importantly, agrees with the ground glass.

Anybody else have one of these and have any advice?

Thanks FrankS. It is indeed a treat for the eyes. I can't wait to try the Skopar lens. I have heard a lot about it but never had one. Now I have to figure out how to get at the shutter to clean it. I can't wait to try this thing out.

Imagine, a large format camera with RF, that isn't really very large or heavy. I need to cut some Adox and load some of my 9x12 sheet film holders. I already have some loaded with ISO 100 film. This thing's top shutter speed of 1/100 begs for ISO 25, and from what I have read here at RF, the Skopar should be up for it.

Anybody have any hints on getting into an Ibsor shutter and cleaning it?
