Recently I purchased an Electro 35 CC on EbayUK. I probably paid way too mych for it, but It fit the bill nicely....35mm lens (my standard), fast (f.1.8), compact, decent build quality, batteries still produced.

I wanted a 'kock around' camera I could throw into my laptop bag and travel with. When it arrived I was a little dissapointed, but not surprised, that it was not as "mint" as described. I knew I would probably have to get a cla when I purchased it--assuming I liked it. Or maybe I'd just sell it, if I didn't like it.

Well, I just got the first roll back, and I must say I am very impressed! Very sharp lens, very good exposures, a little vignetting wide open, some nasty flare on shots into the sun, and the RF definitely will need an allignment, but I really like the little beast, and will send to Hama for a complete cla.
All in all a very nice little rf...

Nice and rare - I also have one, and it does look minty, but it does not get power from the battery. I already cleaned the contacts but that did not help. I need a cheap repairman...

the Yashica glass is notorious for flare when shooting into sun. A lens hood should help some. It's not a coated lens by Zeiss or Leica though so expectations should be adjusted accordingly when shooting towards the sun.

The camera itself is a nice performer and it's a nice size in the hand. I'd get it cleaned and tuned. I've had things done on my Yashica's by Hama and he's fine but check on comments elsewhere at RFF or on the web regarding 'turn around time' it can be very long. You might just take it to someone locally who knows rangefinders. These are tough cameras and not much goes except the infamous 'pad'

cheers

It's off to Mark Hama when he returns from Japan. Turn around time shouldn't be an issue, as I have a few cameras to play with untill it returns...The flare will take some getting used to, as the shape is of the roughly designed aperture, but it actually 'worked' in a few shots. Definitely a keeper.

Good luck with the CLA. Having read this thread I think its time (of the month???) to get out my cc and take it for a spin.
