Hello everyone, I just purchased an original Electro 35. While testing, I noticed the shutter seems to work fine, but it sounds like the same speed regardless of mode, aperture, or ASA settings. Additionally, the overexposure light turns on with each shot. Any suggestions?

I have bought a half-dozen of these cameras. They are old and every one needs some service.
Your symptoms are common... the shutter is running at it's default manual speed (1/500th). The good news is that, provided the lens is clean, you have a good shot at having an excellent camera for around $100 all in. From my experience, there is little chance that the $10 flea market camera will be reliable without service.
Here's a short article I wrote about "How to test a Yashica Electro."
Lots of information here about repairs... PM me if you want specific suggestions.

Yep, my GTN does that too after sitting around for several years with no action. Pretty common occurance. Needs the POD replaced, and I just haven't gotten around to doing it. Got too many other Yashicas to keep me happy.
