I have an Electro GSN, when I press the shutter halfway the yellow light turns on. The red light never turns on, even when pointed at a light bulb. My question is; is this camera usable anyway? Should I get it on a tripod permanently, and use like that?

Most lkely a case of needing a new PoD, but could just be other things - look around here and the net for leads to what might be wrong. As Russ said, does the shutter speed ever change?

Hello,

I have the same problem.
Yesterday I bought a GSN. The original battery is still in the camera and when I press "battery check" the green light is on.
I set asa 1000, f 1.7, the meter shows "low", even when I hold the camera in front of a bright bulb.

The camera is in general good condition but there was a haze on the lens and there is still a haze in the viewfinder.

What could be the cause? Could the battery be too low even when the green light is on when I check the battery, is the lightcell "broken". I don't think it's the electronic circuit because than I wouldn't see the "low" indicator.

I'm a noob in electronics. I'm not afraid from opening camera's but I need to know what I'm looking for.

Thank you for guiding me.

Edit: yes, the shutter sounds the same (1/500) on every setting I choose.

It must have been a battery contact. I took the original battery out, cleaned the contacts in the camera and battery and it works fine. At least I think, I still have to run a film through it.
The local photodealer prepared me a new "battery". One larger 3v and one small 3v stacked in a plastic tube. 13 euros for the batteries was very expensive but I have a working camera now.

Thank you all! 🙂
