This little rangefinder will not work properly at infinity. I bought some spanner wrenches and got it to focus at 1 m but now infinity slips. At least it'll do close ups. Don't really need infinity. Is it terribly difficult inside it?

"Eleitz Wetziar 3" raingefinder" isn't exactly a type designation that rings a bell with me.

Is it a Leica III? A picture would be helpful.

Anyway, spanner wrenches shouldn't be required to get it to focus and if you're correct at 1meter (how can you be sure?) but 'infinity slips', something funky might be going on...

I have a extra long wooden yard stick that I cut off at 39 1/2 inches. A candlestick was put on my dining room table at the end of the stick, the rangefinder was used at my end. The candle was not in focus when the dial was on the number one. The center slot screw head would not turn, it was held tightly by the surrounding ring that has two holes in it. Once that was loosened I was able to turn the screw and the dial and got it to focus.

Oh, it IS a Leitz, E. Leitz.

Well, it still slips or jumps when focused far away and I wish it did not. However, it is good close up and that means I can focus portraits with f3.5. I hoped someone knew about these things here...
