Hi all!

Does the 28 Elmarit IV hit the meter of the original CL?
I don't mind metering accuracy because the meter is dead anyways.
And Is it true, that the whole viewfinder area represents approx the angle of view of a 28?

Thanks :)

I don't think there should be problems - the Elmarit 28mm Version 3 has been specially redesigned for the Leica M5 (and maybe also for the CL) that the rear element doesn't hit the meter cell. Version 4 should be the same.

But I couldn't test it, I only have a Minolta CLE and a Leica Elmarit 28 Version 3. A really nice combo, and the CLE has also the right framelines for it.

Gruesse aus dem Westen Oesterreichs ;-)

Santino, I can't answer your question on the Elmarit 28 iv but I can say that the CL viewfinder has nothing like a 28mm field of view. I saw this opinion by someone a few days ago in a thread here, and I couldn't understand why he would say it. The CL vf gives you a 35mm field of view at the most, hardly even that, but I do use 35s on my CL a lot nonetheless.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. I have two CLs and an M6 and 28mm framelines on the N6 are a dead on match to the full CL viewfinder without glasses.
The 35mm frameline is most difficult for me to estimate because it sits in between the full frame and the 40 frameline. I usually shoot one of my CLs with a 28 and the other with s 40.

Well that's two against one. I certainly must be mistaken.

Thanks for the info.
So you guys think that all after-M5 built Leica lenses should fit the M5/CL?
