I guess I'm a die hard. Just over-nighted my last 10 rolls of Kodachrome to Dwayne's. Bye bye Kodachrome and thanks for all those beautiful images you provided.

I'm "lucky" in that back in the 80's when I was shooting a lot of slide film, Kodachrome wasn't an option. Through about 7 years ago when I stopped shooting film I stuck with what I knew. I started shooting film again a couple years ago, but didn't start shooting slide film again until August of this year, at which point Kodachrome wasn't even an option. August also marked my first time using slide film in 2D photography.

Still I regret never having shot any Kodachrome. 🙁

I loved the colors it produced...it was only later that I learned about it's archival values. Back in the day, I was a lone Kodachrome shooter since there was no internet for learning/discussions. Shot it, admired it, and archived it. Since I wasn't a pro, no one I knew shot chromes. Didn't shoot tons but enough to have a collection built up over the years.

Kodachrome...

Kodachrome...

Me too. I fedex-ed my last 3 rolls this evening.
I actually decided to have a "retirement party" for some of my film gear. I so rarely shoot film anymore, I couldn't think of a better way to retire my Nikkormat ELW, F, and M2 than with 3 final rolls of Kodachrome. It was also cool in that the last few frames on each roll are of my wife and new son.
I plan on posting the images when I get them back.

Goodbye Kodachrome. Goodbye film.

Retired your M2!?!? Does that mean it is looking for a good home?

Jeremy

No, sorry. The M2 was a gift from my dad and has a great story behind it. I could never part with it.
I plan to keep the oldest pieces of my film gear around to pass on to my son. But thanks for asking.

I was mostly kidding anyway--I figured you had a reason for "retiring" it instead of selling it off. I have a K1000 that I will never get rid of for similar reasons. I hope your son enjoys it someday!

Back to the topic of the OP--I never shot Kodachrome, but it sure feels strange to see processing for it coming to an end.

Semilog, great epitaph!

Agree with PKR, the Kodachrome I shot in 2009 looks the same as the stuff my Dad shot in the early 60s, and his Kodachromes are fresh as a daisy compared to his Agfachromes, the latter having nasty colour shifts and edgy, contrasty colour when scanned.
