I received 2 ekg bulb for my minolta mod III . Both has burn in few seconds. What might be the problem ? Is my power supply the problem or the filament was too old. The bulbs was new old stock, can the filament of bulbs degrade with time even if the bulb has not been used ?

Either bad bulbs, not likely. Or they are wrong part or they are getting too much voltage indicating bad circuits in the enlarger or power supply.

I once took an enlarger to college, set it up, poured chemicals, and decided to test the bulb. It blew. Sunday night in Lafayette, Indiana town, but I had a spare. That blew also.

It was an Omega C or B , 6x9, and the head comes off the condenser set. I was checking to see if it lighted without reinstalling the head. Turns out the small bayonet bulbs MUST burn in horizontal or Vertical position ONLY. I just was holding them wrong. I can not remember how I figured it out, but I check bulbs by looking up thru the lens now.

And you can not buy spare enlarger bulbs in the middle of Indiana on Sunday evening in the middle of winter.

Enough to make the pope cuss.
