Does anyone know if the trusty 3170 is supported on High Sierra 10.13.2 ?
I went to the Epson site and installed the driver but I can not get the 3170 running.

Downloaded from the Epson site for 3170 for Mack OS 10.13.2. Install says it was a success.
Can not find it in my applications folder. ??

That´s a driver only. Open preview and look for your scanner in the first pulldown menue where you can choose to "import from..."

(sorry, I only have a german MacOS...)

"it" was a driver, not an application, so of course, "it" was not in your Applications folder.

EPSONscan is, apparantly, not available for you old scanner on High Sierra. EPSON supplies a driver for use with the system's own scanning utility which can be accessed a number of ways. One method is via Preview, as Axel100 states.

It should be more like a plugin.
Most scan-plugins are offering options to choose the necessary parameters the device
can be set to.

It seems that High Sierra does not play well with Epson. There is another thread in this subform about it. Folks have gotten around it using Vuescan. Some of the reviews for it were troublesome. I think that I will purchase a used monitor and set up my old Mac with the Epson software still on it. Looks like the least effort and expense.
Thanks for all your suggestions and help.
