I just wanted to post a quick message to all those still trying to find an Epson battery for the r-d1. As of this morning, they are listed as available at the Epson store. Already ordered mine.

So... before I found that they were available again this morning... I wrote an email to epson support requesting information on other sources of the battery or another recommended third party battery.

This was the response:

If you require replacement parts for your product you can contact one of
the parts distributors listed below and they should be able to assist you
with pricing and availability, just advise them as to the part that you
require.

Compass Micro, Inc. (compassmicro.com) 1-800-388-8595
National Parts Depot (nationalparts.com) 1-800-524-8338
Vance Baldwin (vancebaldwin.com) 1-800-552-1431
------

So I checked their website and it turns out they all supply replacement parts for printers and such... I wrote a request to compass micro and this was their response:

---------
Basically, the Li-ion battery that is available to us through parts is more than
twice as expensive as the same battery through the Epson Store.
The Epson part number, description, and the Epson list price are below:
2088392 Li-ion battery US $128.55 special order
Epson shows this part in stock, but I would recommend that you order the
accessory battery through the Epson Store (B32B818232). Their price is $54.99.
Best Regards,
Rod

GRRR.. one more bang for the road... :bang:

I wonder...

How hard would it take to make a battery pack that would screw to the tripod hole on the bottom of the r-d1 and run two wires to a hollowed out NP-80 battery pack? Unlike many rechargable packs out there... the NP-80 only has two leads.

I'm a big Epson fan btw... I love my 825 photo, 2200 printer, and my V700 scanner. But sheesh.. this is just plain annoying.

the discount code that people used on R-D1, doesnt seem to work this time

I used the discount code successfully when I ordered 2 batteries last week. Perhaps the offer expired at the end of Nov.

Too bad my R-D1 died shortly thereafter....

mentioned that in my original email but there has been some speculation on how it affects the operation of the camera.

I'm sure this could be done, but what would you put in the battery pack to yield 3.7v and at least 1500 mAh?

Thanks, I picked up a spare last night. Appreciate the heads-up.
