Hello,
I have an Epson Perfection 4490 Photo and used it for about 1.5 years to scan my negatives and slides.
Yesterday it produced an error while scanning the "preview".
It took much, much longer than usual and it gave me an error saying that it could not find a negative.
Now I can only select the scanning of printed pictures while the scanning of negatives is greyed out.
I already installed the software on a diffrent computer which gives me the same effect.
Is the lamp at the hood of the scanner broken or should I look for other errors ?
Regards,
Thomas

Did you fully unplug the pigtail and then reinsert it? Did you remember to take the white insert out of the lid? Are you using the holder, and if so, is the calibration gap completetly uncovered?

Hi Doug,
I unplugged the USB cable at the compuer, the white insert of the lid was not used in the last 6 months since i only use it for negatives.
And yes, I use the holder.
Wat about the calibration gap? I never actively noticed it.
