Im currently using an epson v300. It's fine with well exposed outdoor shots but has trouble with underexposed indoor or nighttime shots, showing banding in and lacking detail in the dark areas. I was wondering if a microtek i800 would be a significant upgrade and giving me much better scans of underexposed shots. Im supposing a dmax of 4.0 will aid in brining out the details in the shadows and reducing banding since it doesnt have to try as hard to bring out the shadow detail.
the price of the i800 is 4 times what i paid for the V300, although the v300 was damn cheap. The price is not a major hurdle but i would still rather save it if the results will be similarr. The price of the i800 will get me a nice new CV 28/F2 here in China
