I understand Erwin's passing has been reported on the LUG.
RIP Erwin.
I can't help but imagine Tom A and Erwin sitting in a coffee shop now discussing Leica's next M.

That’s too bad. I wondered why his site had gone dark a few months ago. Very knowledgeable man, to say the least.

Sad indeed. His Leica knowledge base was second to none.
Do hope Leica honors his memory in spite of the bad blood between them in recent times.

sad to learn about this
speaking of websites, I browsed Roger Hicks site recently and hoped it will not vanish all the sudden.

Oh, that's so sad. Yet another of our founding fathers, so to speak. RIP Erwin.

www.rogerandfrances.com has been archived in the Wayback Machine, so even if it vanishes, it will live on there.

Sad to hear. I also noticed his site had gone dark. He was a big influence on me. Super knowledgeable.

It is with profound sadness i read Erwin Puts passing.
He was a worthy photographer and really knew about his craft.
I exchanged a number of thoughts and facts I had noticed in my career.
Always polite and adding more knowledge to my basket.
He will be missed.
Rest well Erwin.

so very Sorry to hear... RIP
I very much enjoyed reading his obsessive leica ways...
May his new Journey be a New Joy !
Has anyone ever seen his photography ?
I know one of his favorite and loved lenses was his 40 summicron

Sorry to hear this. Always enjoyed reading his posts on LUG. I have his book, the "Leica Lens Compendium." Taught me a lot about optics. Condolences to the family.

This is a shock to me. I have read his Tao of Leica blog over some years and also have his Leica Chronicle ebook, so I feel sad that he won't be producing any more stories on Leica.
