Europe IR... seeing it all over again.

I just returned from three weeks in Europe. Along with my 35 lux I brought a cv 15mm with a Hoya 92 filter. The IR filter gave me a new perspective and I was able to revisit some sites I had already shot many times with film and digital. Including these shots of Paris.

Strikingly beautiful, well done!

I love the flowers in the bottom of the frame of the first shot.
Also love the sky in the last shot.

We have some new members that have expressed an interest in using their M8 for Infrared Images.

Would you consider opening a thread on how you made the images, regarding exposure times, shutter speed, need to re-focus? A number of people are going to want to try out IR after seeing your images.

I'm not sure if I have much to add to the conversation... with the lens wide open I bracket focus, and shutter speeds for most shots. That's easy enough with an M8. I didn't keep notes but I'll see if I can make some sense out of the exif data to post something helpful. Honestly for me I've found the subject to be more important than technique.

Generally it's a bit of a let down to return from vacation. But on this trip I didn't have any means to view my shots so I've been enjoying going through the 4 x 8gb cards that I filled. I found these this afternoon........

Those are beautiful- and understandable that it's a let down to be back. But with these beautiful images, you've captured a trip that is usually once in a lifetime for most people.

I have got to try the M8 with Infrared. And I have a dedicated IR camera.

I don't have any experience shooting IR with any other camera but so far it has been a pretty short learning curve with the M8. I have a step down ring and tested the filter on my 35 lux, and 90 elmarit. They worked fine but so far I prefer the cv 15. My process with this lens is pretty simple. I always shoot wide open to avoid a hot spot in the center. If the sky is in the shot, I shoot in aperture priority mode. Under a canopy of leaves, I bracket shutter speeds. If there is something in the foreground I focus at about 4ft. otherwise I focus at infinity. Even at f4.5 the DOF is big enough that I haven't had any problems with focus except with very near items. The rest is all post processing.
I have to say, if you have an M8, $40 for the the Hoya R72 filter is money well spent.
 
Great images! Really nice effect and well-applied, too. I've seen a lot of IR stuff that just seemed unnecessary at best, but these work.
