Seeing as a few places seem to be offering pre-ordering for the X100, I wonder if there has been any clarification on what the price will be in Europe or the UK.

Several UK sites seem to be offering pre-ordered X100's for about £1,000, which would seem to imply a €1,200 price tag for European X100's. Does anyone know if this is to be the finalised price point ?

AFAIK, official pricing hasn't been announced for anywhere in the world yet. Hopefully there will be an announcement in the next few weeks seeing as they were still stating March as the availability month.

Just to update, I have seen one local camera store in Dublin offering the X100 @ a €999 price point, with availability listed from April '11. Perhaps just speculation, but something to hope for, especially given it's not exactly the most competitive camera store around.

I inquired at Munich's largest camera store (Foto Video Sauter) today:

  1. The price in that store will be € 998,- incl. 19% German VAT. I presume that's MSRP, but that's what we'll have to pay in the beginning...
  2. The camera will be introduced in the first week of March, with FujiFilm doing a promotional tour (presumably all over Germany).
  3. At product introduction, Fuji will not only ship demo cameras, but sales stock. However, heaven knows if that stock will be sufficient...

Lol, I hear you. Some camera stores here are taking the conservative approach, indicating they shall have available stock by mid April.

Nice to see the camera is at the €1000 price point, and has not grown substantially. I think I am similarly hopeful the price will come down a little eventually :)

Precision camera said they had not heard of any delay into April, and that there would be an official announcement on Feb 8, I bet more will be clear then. (hopefully they finally announce price and show some more image samples and AF speed numbers)

8th Feb? That's in 2 days.

Let's just hope it comes out on time and price, and it's a sunny day in London with much interestingness going on.

Yes :) £900.01 would be a deal breaker, UNLESS I get a free cup of tea.

As great as we all hope this camera to be, it's not a £1,200 camera as I'm now being told it'll be. I'd rather save a little more cash and get a much more capable beast.

Just spoken to several camera shops in London, every single one gave a price of £1,399.00 and said they can't say if they'll even get any - as in they don't know not they are not allowed to say. Mad.

I'll wait.

CURAZY! 1,400 pounds? that is nuts. It was the same here in Iceland. He couldn't tell me if they would even get any, and the last new Fuji camera was marked up 250%!!!! (200 in the US, 550 here)

I am lucky that I can order from the US, have it sent to a US address, and have it magically show up here less than a week later with no customs VAT or shipping. I try to support icelandic companies whenever possible, but the Fuji dealer here gives off an auro of complete don't-give-a-****.

Yup, £1020 is too much for me. I could process a hell of a lot of film from my Hexar AF for that price premium.

I"m lucky enough to be able to reclaim VAT, I wonder if I can do so if I buy from Germany. Once it's nearer £700, post tax... maybe I can yield to temptation. (Starts looking around to see what he can sell off).

Either way, I have to see that focus speed and functionality first.

Edit: just seen that UK price. Somehow I find that offensive. If necessary, I'll buy from Germany - do we know the official MRP there yet?

I suggest you have a little word with your tax advisor. I can also reclaim VAT, and by stating my German VAT ID number to foreign EU vendors, I can generally avoid having to pay foreign VAT. However, I don't know if the UK IRS doesn't come knocking at your door if you do ...

See my post #4 above. There doesn't seem to be any official info on German MSRP yet.

In some ways it's similar to the Leica X1 and in some ways potentially a much better camera, we'll have to wait and see so I can't see why the price point is offensive or too high for this camera.I'm assuming the £999 price is inclusive of VAT, I can't get the AP link to open. Will I buy one or not? Maybe.

thanks, I did see that, let's hope they hold to that price.

I think I will be fine and be able to reclaim.

I can't afford to talk to my tax advisor! (I'm only partly joking. I pay them the hiked UK price of an X100 every year, and for the year that's just gone... I'm paying M9 prices for a G9 income)
